Bill Brown (Senior Pastor)
Bill has been on staff at Syndal for over 30 years, initially as Youth Pastor and, for the past 20 years, as the church's Senior Pastor. Bill has overall responsibility for the staff and ministry of the church and provides the church's vision and direction. Bill is committed to building an active and growing church that is a vital part of the community. Bill is a past president of the Baptist Union of Victoria. He is married with 4 children.

Lyn Hunter (Pastor
– Life and Community)
Lyn came to SBC in 2000 as Pastor for Care, then Pastor for Discipleship/Training, then Executive Pastor before her current role. Her 'past life' includes primary teaching, admin, counseling and being a pastor's wife. These days she's a grandma and a student at Whitley Theol. College. Her 'great escape' is woodwork and, when opportunity allows, going bush with husband, Chris, on outback adventures. They have four adult children who have (mostly) flown the nest.

Wai-Kwong Sun (Chinese Pastor)
Wai-Kwong joined Syndal Baptist Church on 1 July 2001 and is responsible for ministry and evangelism to the Chinese. Our Cantonese congregation started with Wai-Kwong's arrival and is meeting at Syndal Baptist, 10.30am on Sundays in the East Auditorium. Our Mandarin congregation, which started in 2004, also meets on Sundays at 10.30am in the East Auditorium. Wai-Kwong loves the Chinese and people of all backgrounds. He is married with two children.

Kerry Walmsley (Music)
Kerry has been attending Syndal Baptist Church for 24 years. She leads a large team of musicians to provide music for services and special events, and facilitates training and development opportunities.
Kerry is married to Andy and they have two wonderful children.

John Robinson (Small Groups and Training)
John moved to Syndal from Canberra with his wife and three children in October 2005. The major focus of John's role is to coordinate both the School of Ministry and Small Groups. John loves getting out in the garden, taking in a good movie, and eating his wife's lasagne.

Brendan Daws (Youth Worker)
After several years as a volunteer in Syndal's Youth Ministry, Brendan joined the staff in 2007. His passion is seeing young people empowered to reach their God given potential, and make a difference in the world. He is also passionate about baseball, having played and coached at various levels for over 12 years. He also plays basketball and mixed netball, and loves watching movies and listening to music. Brendan has completed a Bachelor of Ministries majoring in Youth Ministry at the Bible College of Victoria.

Jeremy van Langenberg (Pastor for Care and Seniors)
Jeremy started in January 2004 and has oversight for seniors and various care ministries. Married with two children, he and his family are in the process of resettling in Australia after spending nearly 12 years with SIM in Benin, West Africa. He is partial to cricket (gets a tinge passionate when Sri Lanka plays) and footy, but mostly as a spectator. He’d like to do more reading, doesn’t mind the occasional bike ride, and enjoys a good movie.

Jennifer Farmer (Community Care/Foodbank)
Jennifer joined us at Syndal in May 2004 as Community Care Co-ordinator. Her prime role is Foodbank. Married to Greg, they have 2 children. Jennifer enjoys nothing more than catching up with friends over coffee and one of her passions is patchwork.

Caroline Young (Children and Families)
Caroline Young has been part of the Syndal Baptist Church community for around 4 years, and joined the pastoral team in 2005. Her role involves overseeing the children's ministry leadership team and the various children and families ministries within the Church. Caroline enjoys reading poetry, watching movies, going on picnics and spending time with friends and family. |
