Community Care
Reaching the world one heart at a time
Reaching the world one heart at a time
Community Care aims to reflect God's heart of compassion for the community of Monash. We believe the Gospel must be demonstrated in both word and deed. It should address the needs of the whole person, ministering to their spiritual, social and physical needs.
Community Care aims to fulfill Syndal Baptist Church's commitment to be a church serving our community. The Foodbank helps address the physical needs of a person through food. Our community lunch helps to provide social support in a group setting. We provide one on one support in caring and supportive environment.
Community Care aims to care for members of our local community through pastoral support in times of crisis. We also aim to connect people through referrals to other services, advocating on their behalf at times. We aim to provide services in a safe, warm and friendly environment that is always respectful, fair and equitable to all clients.

The Purpose
Foodbank exists to assist members of our local community with material relief in the form of food, clothing and various household goods when available.
Foodbank endeavours to reflect God's heart of compassion for the community of Monash. We believe the gospel must be demonstrated in both word and deed, with holistic consideration of a person's spiritual, social and physical needs. Foodbank aims to address all of these needs but especially focuses on the physical needs of the client. Part of Syndal Baptist's vision is to be a "church serving the community". Foodbank is one way of fulfilling that vision.
Services such as: Providing food to those in need A friendly chat over a cup of tea or coffee Linking within Karinya Counselling Centre Networking with other Syndal Baptist programs including: Life Discovery and other short courses, craft groups and Alpha Referrals to other welfare agencies Good quality used clothing Support counseling
Foodbank is open each week on Tuesdays only. Appointments are made by contacting the Church Office on 9803 9144.
In the region there are approximately 179,000 people, with 70,000 in the Glen Waverley, Wheelers Hill and Mount Waverley areas. Some agencies provide similar care but cannot keep up with the need. Many agencies will only give food 3 times a year to the same client. Several agencies, including Centrelink, refer people to Syndal's Foodbank.
Foodbank extends a very sincere "Thank you" to the many wonderful, anonymous people who faithfully donate grocery items and put them in the Foodbank Trolley week after week. Your generosity of spirit and resources allows us to extend God's love in practical ways beyond our Church community. This is good news to the needy. God bless you.
Monetary gifts to Syndal's Community Care ministry are Tax Deductable.
