About Us

Community Care aims to reflect God's heart of compassion for the community by offering practical support in times of need, financial stress and through the various hardships of life.
We do this in a safe, warm and friendly environment that is always respectful, fair and equitable to all clients.

What we offer

Foodbank

Foodbank exists to assist members of our local community with material relief in the form of food and various other needs. It's also our priority to offer care for the 'whole person', and we love to chat and look for ways to support our clients beyond food parcels.

To make an appointment at Foodbank, contact us through the Syndal Baptist Church office on (03) 9803 9144.

COACH Mentoring

COACH assists individuals and families who are experiencing challenging times and who want things to be better. Trained volunteer mentors provide support, and empower people to create a brighter future for themselves.
COACH is a mentoring program available to people in the church and community and would love to hear from you if you are interested in either being mentored or becoming a mentor.

Matrix Community Gatherings

Matrix has taken a few forms over the last few years - from lunch gatherings, to coffee catch ups.

But whatever its form, Matrix is a place for members of our community to connect over a cuppa and a chat.

To find out the details of our next Matrix gathering, contact us on (03) 9803 9144.

Courses

As part of our commitment to caring for people in all aspects of life, we regularly offer courses through Community Care that aim to help equip people with valuable life skills.

We run CAP Money courses and have CAP money mentors that can provide basic money management skills such as budgeting. Other courses run time to time such as Happiness lab…..

To find out if any courses are running soon, contact us on (03) 9803 9144.

Pastoral Care

When people visit us at Community Care, one of our highest priorities is to show care for them in whatever experiences they are facing.

This may involve simply chatting and listening, offering resources or prayer (if it is requested).
We'd love to support you through the challenges in your life.

Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry

We have a small and dedicated team of crafters who love to make quilts for people who are facing challenges in life. Whether exam stress, health challenges, grief, relationship breakdown, financial pressure or loss of employment - each quilt is made with prayer for specific people and situations, and members of the Syndal Baptist Community pray for the needs raised.

If you'd like to request a quilt for yourself or someone else, contact Rosie at rmerrigan@sb.org.au or call (03) 9803 9144.

Referrals

We are able to assist our clients with referrals to other organisations and services as needed.

One of these is Karinya Counselling Centre - which is next door to Community Care. We can help people access discounted counselling support through this great organisation.
