I was born into an Anglican family in Colombo, 🇱🇰 christened in our family Anglican Church, and later went through confirmation at the Anglican school that I attended throughout my schooling career
From day dot, my sisters and I were privileged to have been bought up in a home that shared Christian values.
Whilst my family has strong connections to the Anglican Church in 🇱🇰 to this day, growing up, we attended a Bretheren church (Bethesda Gospel Hall)for Sunday School. I was the only one in the family (including my extended family) that continued in that church till in fact, my wife and I relocated to Australia. I committed my life to the Lord in my early teenage years, was part of the various ministries at Bethesda and went through immersion baptism at Bethesda and Ganga and I were married at Bethesda in Dec 2003, breaking away from a generational tradition in our family of being married at an Anglican church
I have had the privilege and opportunity to be part of a few ministries at Syndal and Syndal has very much become my spiritual home in Melbourne
My Christian journey has been somewhat a vanilla journey and I am grateful and thankful to the Lord for that
Both Ganga and Aryanna don't attend church currently. Please do keep them in your prayers
I look forward to serving the Lord in whatever form he calls me to.
I was raised in a Christian family and have always had a church community around me to support and anchor foundational faith for me. I started attending Syndal Baptist Church in 2009 with my family and now my husband and children attend Syndal and remain closely woven in the Syndal fabric through our life group and Tribe.
During my time at Syndal I have had the opportunity to be involved in a mission trip to Kenya and attend leadership conferences in the US, which I continue to draw on those experiences and have deepened my faith in so many ways. I still recall the tangible joy of praise for Jesus the children we encountered, displayed so freely. I have also been apart of BSF for many years, as another avenue for a deeper study of the bible. I have served on the worship team, Tribe and more recently, the hosting team.
I have spent most of my career in the Public Sector and in my current role I have managerial oversight of service delivery monitoring, planning and performance, operational policy development and implementation and internal reviews, in a Youth Justice setting.
The church represents so many different things for people who are apart of the community and even for those who are peripheral to that and how Jesus continues to work in every layer of that is a very important conversation I want to be apart of. With my life experience, touch points of different ministries and deep sense to contribute in brining Jesus’s love to all aspects of the broader community for generations to come, I am honourably accepting another nomination of Church Council Member.
I was blessed to grow up in a Christian family and have been part of the church all my life. I was baptised as an infant in the Reformed Church in Doveton (now Casey) and later professed my faith at the age of 21. I attended Maranatha Christian School before completing a Bachelor of Building and a Master of Project Management at RMIT.
In 1996, I married my sweetheart, Judith, and together we’ve been blessed with three wonderful children — Lachlan, Joshua, and Megan.
After getting married, Judith and I joined Murrumbeena Baptist Church before moving to Syndal Baptist Church in 2012, where we became members in 2015.
Professionally, I work with commercial construction companies, helping them win new projects.
My happy places are simple: having coffee with Judith, family dinners, holidays together, and mowing the lawn.
